Contest Overview

This year we've made quite a few improvements to our contest format and we're excited about sharing them with you. Some of the major changes include a richer, more organized Contest Pages where all submissions can be easily found and viewed. Additionally, we're flipping our voting format so our editors and judges will be choosing the finalists and then the readers will be voting live online for the winners in our new, bracketed voting system.

Submissions

• Monday, 9.22 through Tuesday, 10.14 through the form to the right

Eligibility

• The colorful home must be lived in by the contest applicant and can be ANY SIZE!
• The home may be owned, rented, or even sublet.
• It can be designed by a professional or by a weekend hobbyist.
• All readers age 18 and up are invited to enter the contest and share their home. Due to legal limitations and shipping costs, only U.S. residents are eligible to win the prizes.

• You must be located outside of the US to be eligible for our International AT "Gift."
• International readers are invited to submit entries for exhibition on the site, but they are not eligible to win prizes. Unfortunately, CB2 prizes may only be awarded to US residents.

• Employees of CB2 or Apartment Therapy may not enter this contest.
• Entries may NOT include links to other web pages or to AT house tours.
• Once submitted, no contest entry may be changed, altered, or enhanced.
• Only one entry per household permitted across all AT color contests.
• Winner is solely responsible for any and all local, state, and federal taxes incurred upon claiming a prize. CB2 will file a 1099 for prizes valued at or above $600.

National Contest Schedule

• Submissions are open on Monday, 9.22 through Tuesday, 10.14
• Completed submissions will be posted in our submissions pool starting Monday, 9.29
• The best 40 entries from each region (at the discretion of our judges) will be posted (2-3 per day) will be shown on the front page of the blog from Monday, 9.29 through Friday, 10.17.
• Readers will be encouraged to comment and assess each entry. The judges will review and take into account these comments when making their final decision.
• The strongest 16 entries in each region chosen by our judges will move to the bracket voting period, starting on Monday, 10.20
• In our bracketed voting period each finalist will compete for reader's votes until only one remains.
• Each bracketed face off lasts 24 hours.
• The four finalists from each region will compete against one another on Thursday, 10.30.
• The two finalists who remain will compete against one another from Friday, 10.31 until noon PST on Monday, 11.3 at which point voting will be closed and the winner announced.

International Contest Schedule

In addition the 1st prize winner will be invited to be featured as a special House Tour after they've received their prizes.

The first 25 complete US submissions will each receive Apartment Therapy's new book: "Apartment Therapy presents Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Real Design Solutions" published by Chronicle Books.

International winners who place 1st through 4th will receive a certificate of recognition and the AT t-shirt of their choice.
